For Master and Doctoral Students
ICRAF frequently engages students working towards their postgraduate degrees (MS/MPhil/PhD) as research fellows. The research fellowships are useful for the advancement of ICRAF’s research for sustainable development. Research Fellows are students enrolled for a master’s or doctoral degree and the purpose of their fellowship with ICRAF is to carry out field/lab research that is part of their dissertation/thesis and is also of interest to ICRAF’s research and development agenda. The duration of engagement depends on the length of research phase. ICRAF may provide a modest fellowship, with transport from/to origin, local transport or a monthly transportation allowance, and all needed insurances. Research fellows can opt for full or partial self-financing of their costs as well. The final product of their fellowship is a defended thesis/ dissertation at their academic institution, with due credit to ICRAF/HI for co-supervision. Research fellows are required to deliver at least one seminar on their research.
Fresh Graduates/ Junior Professionals
ICRAF engages interested MS ad PhD degree holders as Research Associates. Research Associates are people who already hold masters or PhD degrees and are interested to contribute to ICRAF’s work as junior professionals for short durations of 2 weeks to 3 months to stay engaged and gain experience while they are looking for professional jobs. They are provided a modest monthly scholarship depending upon the nature of assignment, quality of work needed and the financing available with the ICRAF unit where they are placed. They take care of their subsistence, insurances, and travel costs by themselves. ICRAF may support them in and may bear the cost of obtaining work/research permits at the location of placement, if required and reimburse flights to/from the origin to the duty station.
